Shop check in- “New” Long 560DT Tractor, UTV, Old Benz
Been working on this new to me 1980 Long 560DT. Getting it ready and reliable for any kind of property maintenance and small farming needs.
My favorite part of a project is figuring out all what a machine needs to be back in good working order.

Another day another bubbled sidewall. In this episode I dismount the old Federal tire, reseal the mating interface and mount an Accelera Phi 215/35/19 on my 10" wide Garson Ryugi's. Reduced load capacity of the 215 vs 225 width tires have proven over the last 2 years to be inadequate in durability on the front of the LS400.

@@NEK107 i bought a used fuel distributor off ebay, the car runs, idles poorly, seems to clean up over 1800 rom but its still on the hoist, havent had time to mess with it. Has good compression on all 8, but very poor vacuum. Smoke testing the inlet/vacuum system did not reveal any leaks. Further, if i set the air meter to factory spec free play of the plunger i get no fuel until you depress the air meter about halfway down. I have to crank on the plunger preload significantly if i want any fuel for it to fire up and idle.

Thankfully my subframe bushings are still good on this one so dont have to change them :D Doesnt look too hard though, appears to be like any other subframe cradle. unbolt, drop down, use a C clamp bushing press, if not working or available, torch them then sawzall blade to sever the outer sleeve, knock it inward with a punch.

yes you are correct the febi tensioner has nothing to do wit the oil pressure, I was watching your episode on when you added the febi tensioner just keep an eye on it, how long did you prime the engine to try bring up the oil pressure and was it primed with the plugs removed

    • @BGGarage

yes plugs removed, fuel pumps disconnected. Filled to spec, nothing, overfilled by 4 quarts, nothing, filled it via oil filter housing-nothing. WHen I get back on this project ill take the pump off and bench test it. Clearly there is no bloackage between pump and oil filter as i put 10 quarts through the filter housing and it all ended up in the pan, but yet-the housing does not get filled up when cranking.

Just have a bunch on hand from our old S8 and its always in stock at walmart. The 40 is the key to adhere to. Usually you can do down on the “W” part safely as its the cold pour point relative viscosity, but you cant go up. Ex if it calls for 5w40 you cant use 15w40, but you can use 0w40.

I used the that gearwrench kit for around 5 years in a shop, daily use. They arent great..i broke a couple and had a hard time getting warranty. Ended up buying new ones. Expensive for what they are. Also that spline drive is loose, tight bolts will be rounded over by these under alot of torque. I bought that exact snap on set recently and they are quality. Also i really like the kabo made wrenches, the ones icon and matco rebrand. They have that collar which is nice on some situations, and pretty beefy.
