Wow last video I published was apparently 3 months ago, it feels more like 6! We sold our house in MI and are now in NY. What a crazy journey in life over these last few months between July and Sept. Finished renoing the Michigan house, hosted family from overseas for a week 5 days before the move began, did 5700 miles in 5 trips to move our stuff over 10 days AND got the SEC a roller and so da...

VIP STYLE LS400 - EP5: Dismount, Reseal & Mount Stretch Tire 215/35 on 10J

Another day another bubbled sidewall. In this episode I dismount the old Federal tire, reseal the mating interface and mount an Accelera Phi 215/35/19 on my 10" wide Garson Ryugi's. Reduced load capacity of the 215 vs 225 width tires have proven over the last 2 years to be inadequate in durability on the front of the LS400.

Welcome back, join me as I reassemble the Benz's front wheel bearing and hang it on the car. This is the fun easy part! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT NOTE!! Pass a piece of ferrous metal across both faces of the bearing to d...

The full replacement bumpers are too bulky looking, and the wrap around grille protectors muddy up the lines of the truck a bit...why not just a bullbar/push bar? The uprights are ncie and beefy although I admit the cross bars are too small gauge IMO. Brackets that tie into the frame are adequate. $350 dollars shipped, we like it! Good work bruv. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man any more update on the sec would you let me know thank you
@@NEK107 i bought a used fuel distributor off ebay, the car runs, idles poorly, seems to clean up over 1800 rom but its still on the hoist, havent had time to mess with it. Has good compression on all 8, but very poor vacuum. Smoke testing the inlet/vacuum system did not reveal any leaks. Further, if i set the air meter to factory spec free play of the plunger i get no fuel until you depress the air meter about halfway down. I have to crank on the plunger preload significantly if i want any fuel for it to fire up and idle.
Do you want to sell this gun?
No, works good for me ill be keeping it
Thanks.
The beast🎉
All the testing ive seen spline drive slips less than 12 point they do scuff the fasteners up more but project farm proved it many times
Could be but, i dont like my fasteners scuffed and having to beat them out of the splines
thanks for the vid : )
Good Morning, Thank you very much Sr. , Have a good day 👌💪👏👏👏👍
i saw that you relieved some air from the suspension, does that recalibrate itself on start up / automatic refill through the compressor?
Yes it uses the height sensors to add/release the appropriate amount of air. No user intervention required.
Great video, Do you have one where you replaced the sway bar bushings?
Thanks for showing how to compression test this old m117. Am in the process of acquiring one thats been sitting for over a decade. Congratulations on your $175 find
i’ve bought Snap On in the early 90s when i worked at an auto shop and those tools are still solid today. buy once, cry once right.
Thanks Toyota engenders ….they could do that easier but fck meeee I don’t like to put my head underneath the car, this scary feeling always it falls down and crush me
How the hell you gonna skip over torquing that at ride height?
3 to 30 ugga duggas
I don't like the tips, they're too blunt.
I just finished chasing my tail on an ML 350 Bluetec was a pass side module shorting to 12v on the can high. Also just like yours, just a single warning at first... Eventually the vehicle is down and wont do anything.
Do you access to Amazon or other online service? I know Amazon has it.
Oh no WTF! Part one end, the real world hit's hard! I've been there! Wrong Dam Part! Great ! Thank you for part 2
Awesome Job! I would love to see you change the Subframe Bushings on this Vehicle. I have the same design vehicle GL450 (2007) and mine are getting ready. If your relatively close to Long Island NY I could help, Just get back to me. Thank you for the great video!
Hi Tom, Im near Syracuse. Not close but..not too far from long island. Thankfully my subframe bushings are still good on this one so dont have to change them :D Doesnt look too hard though, appears to be like any other subframe cradle. unbolt, drop down, use a C clamp bushing press, if not working or available, torch them then sawzall blade to sever the outer sleeve, knock it inward with a punch.
@@BGGarage Do I have to support the engine or can I just remove the Subframe at the 4 Bushing bolts and it will drop down? I just want to change the 4 bushings. 2 Front and two rear facing on the front Subframe. Thanks for the quick reply!
I have snow here on the ground so maybe in the Spring we could hook up cause I know it's even colder where you are.
What’s the part number for the bolt? I want to use new bolts when I am replacing the cradle!
I came for the cats. Dirty click bait. Can't get views unless you use cats.
do you know if this car and the ractis use the same lower control arm? I know they have the same engine set up.
Sorry i got no idea about that boss
Hi, if I didn't watch your video, I would have bought the same bearing from fcpeuro... Thank you! It still says it's both front and rear. Does your 550 have the offroad package I wonder?
And what can i do with it now?
No comparison between two!
Definitly not, i really really enjoy using the snap ons. Wish they had 21mm+
we need a new video for update!
Been real busy but did figure the oiling issue, but now it wont start which is most puzzling as i did have it idling a little bit before the move.
How many Miles did you have on the GL when the bearing failed? WTF! They sent the wrong one. Great Video thank you so much. GREAT JOB!
Great video! Thank you. Doing this same work on my 1974 450SE
dude those Snap On wrenches are over 800 now
Thats dumb aint worth no 800
Get the icons way cheaper and good quality
I dig it plus you get a step to check on things under the hood? Awesome.
Ya the step is very convenient
the axle nut torque spec is 192 foot pounds, not "uggah duggah with an 800 ft-lb impact wrench because I'm too lazy to use a torque wrench". And yes, you are lazy.
No doubt-lazy. Good to know about the nut torque. I need to to the left side shortly.
Very good info. I have similar issues but don't have the blind spot opt. Any suggestions ?
Can bus system connects almost 30 different modules on these vehicles. Any of those modules could be failing/ shorting out/getting shorted with water.
Nice finger smash lol that black nail is rough but I give you props and I can trust you work lol
The vac line from the rear of the T/Body (more forward of the other 2 most rear ones that go to the 2 thermo-couplers) which you describe as the long one - goes to the LHS firewall check valve for the charcoal vapour system
yes you are correct the febi tensioner has nothing to do wit the oil pressure, I was watching your episode on when you added the febi tensioner just keep an eye on it, how long did you prime the engine to try bring up the oil pressure and was it primed with the plugs removed
yes plugs removed, fuel pumps disconnected. Filled to spec, nothing, overfilled by 4 quarts, nothing, filled it via oil filter housing-nothing. WHen I get back on this project ill take the pump off and bench test it. Clearly there is no bloackage between pump and oil filter as i put 10 quarts through the filter housing and it all ended up in the pan, but yet-the housing does not get filled up when cranking.
peculiar, how long did you prime for, im assuming your seeing no oil falling onto the cam @@BGGarage
i assume you did prime the engine to bring up the oil pressure, keep an eye on the febi tensioner
It will not prime. The febi tensioner has nothing to do with the oil pump.
how did you find the febi tensioner, best to use a genuine tensioner
Febi is OES, just like everything MB branded, a tier 1 or tier 2 supplier manufactures it.
Why do you use 0w-40 and not 5w40??
Just have a bunch on hand from our old S8 and its always in stock at walmart. The 40 is the key to adhere to. Usually you can do down on the “W” part safely as its the cold pour point relative viscosity, but you cant go up. Ex if it calls for 5w40 you cant use 15w40, but you can use 0w40.
Because Mercedes specifies it for this car.
What's the official name of that "Buster" tool?
Ball joint separator IIRC. Was a cheapy off amazon but has held up well. Im just waiting for it to shatter one day
What did you need to do to it for it to work?
Made own exhaust manifolds, r&d intake manifold, maxed out the pump. Oil feed and drain, thats it
How are they holding up?
thanks, now to mod it up better
Kids ended up breaking this one from the terrain. Bought a lifted electric gold cart as replacement hehe
Hi there! Can you provide the source and part number for the check valve replacement? I have the same issue..thanks
I cannot as I never got around to looking and ordering one lol. Havent noticed any significant detriment from not having the check valve. Maybe 0.5 second delay between button push and spray getting on windshield.
Nice, I got one on my 1500
I would never use that tow hooks you called out. It’s just not the way. If you look just under there’s more better options. Just saying that a tow hook 🪝 uses a j hook.
You have a link where you bought the whole set up?
Ah no its buried somewhere in my ebay. I just googled the model and found a supplier.
😂😂😂😂
Was it laggy with the 366?
No it would start building boost quickly. 7.3 liters is alot of air to move. I never did have enough fuel to use this thing to its full potential, but the sound was greT.

I used the that gearwrench kit for around 5 years in a shop, daily use. They arent great..i broke a couple and had a hard time getting warranty. Ended up buying new ones. Expensive for what they are. Also that spline drive is loose, tight bolts will be rounded over by these under alot of torque. I bought that exact snap on set recently and they are quality. Also i really like the kabo made wrenches, the ones icon and matco rebrand. They have that collar which is nice on some situations, and pretty beefy.
